Popkov Castle

Today, I would like to tell you about my experience at Popkov Castle.

This beautiful castle is located just over an hour drive from Paris, in a very quiet town.

Arriving there, we park just in front of a church, and we notice with surprise a large gate behind us, the castle was just there, in the sight of all.

We will have to be even more discreet to access it.

The castle is in a poor state, we could see it for miles, unfortunately.

We start by locating the places, to find an access to the castle without making us reperate by the whole village.

We finally find an entrance, but it seemed too simple, after a few meters of walking we finally see the castle in all its splendor, when suddenly, several dogs begin to bark at us. So we had to quickly turn around before the neighbors saw us.

Continuing to walk a little further along the road leading to the castle, we notice another possible entrance, the stone wall was broken in one place to let us pass more easily in the forest to go to the castle. This path was longer but necessary, so as not to be spotted by anyone.

So we climb this wall to land in a vast forest, after thirty minutes of walking we could finally see the castle four miles in front of us.

But obviously before reaching our destination, we find ourselves facing another obstacle, a huge fence.

Right now we notice a small hole in the fence, big enough to pass through, thanks to the person who did it.

We arrive finally on the vast ground of the castle, we had to run up to the castle by lowering us slightly so that nobody sees us.

With all these misadventures, it was getting late, so we take as many photos as possible of the place.

The castle was very beautiful but obviously in poor condition, wooden beams held the ceiling so that it does not collapse under the weight of time.

Going upstairs we notice that the rooms were no longer accessible and that the steps leading to the 2nd floor would not allow us to climb higher. The visit will be shorter than expected, and the basement is not very interesting, so we decided to shorten our visit and take our way back to the forest, the sun starting to set.

Going back into the forest, we noticed a small cave with a small gate, curious, we will look at what is inside. A large deep well, which was probably used at the time, by the people living in the castle.

After making this discovery, we take our way out of the forest. But the forest is very big and we have no sense of direction, we took a few minutes to find the wall through which we entered.

Finally, we went back to the village under a beautiful sunset, as if nothing had happened.

We were so happy to have managed to enter the castle.

It was a very fructuous and interesting sight. You really have to persist in life when you want something and that's what we did.
